- Students will be evaluated as the activities progress, teacher will be walking around the classroom making sure students stay on task and engaged in the activities at hand. The teacher will make sure students are understanding decimals by asking random questions to different students that may look like they require extra help.
- For an assessment the students will be playing "Decimal Game Show" (Jeopardy game). This will help the teacher assess the students understanding of decimals along with the Olympics game. (making the assessment into a game keeps students engaged and on task without knowing that their knowledge is being tested)
- The students will work in pairs as the teacher gives out different problems. The students are to work out the problem and write their answer in written and expanded form. The students will also give an example as to how else they could use this problem in a real world situation. The students will demonstrate their work by working their problem on the white board one pair at a time as the rest of the class helps evaluate the answer and why it is correct or wrong. (this will be a class learning activity)
- The Decimal Olympics will help the teacher review decimals with students and wrap up the full lesson with a game which will lead to a final quiz. After learning about adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing with decimals, students will be expected to pass their final quiz with a 70% or higher.
